Natural Language Processing (NLP)

NLP is a branch of artificial intelligence describing the study of how computers can understand, interpret, and manipulate human language. This process is commonly used for analyzing large volumes of textual data and structuring data sources to resolve ambiguous language.

NLP resolves the need for syntactic and semantic understanding in the hundreds of complex and diverse ways people express themselves verbally and in writing to each other. NLP is important because it works out ambiguity in language and adds useful numeric structures to the data that is usable by a computer. These are useful for many applications, such as speech recognition or text analytics.
